High-quality gin cultivated by the climate of Hiroshima: SAKURAO GIN is produced in a copper mixed still made in Germany. 17 types of plants representing the land and sea of Hiroshima are specially selected and steeped and distilled to create this handmade gin. The plants are soaked in base liquor for distillation, and the plants are evaporated in a basket installed in the distillation path to extract the aroma of the plants.
The 17 kinds of ingredients include lemon, navel orange, tangerine, Kawane yuzu, orange, hinoki, green tea, red perilla, plateau ginger, cherry blossom, Hiroshima juniper berry, black camphor, pepper leaf, oyster, horseradish, Juniper leaves, green perilla
Back in 2018, the new Sakurao Distillery opened in Hiroshima. While they wait until they can produce a whisky, they’ve made a rather fabulous gin! The limited edition expression is made with 17 botanicals from the land and sea surrounding Hiroshima including Japanese juniper berries, oyster shells, wasabi and Hinoki. It makes for a pretty unique tipple.
