About MARS SHINSHU DISTILLERY: Known today as the main location of Mars’s whisky production, the Nagano distillery was opened in the 1980’s, when the Hombo family decided to move their production from the original site in Kagoshima. The highest elevation distillery at just over 2,600 ft, tucked between Japan’s Southern and Central Alps. Chosen for its cool temperatures and plentiful snowmelt fed aquifers, Shinshu continues to produce clean and elegant whiskies with a rich and nuanced flavor profile.
